AWS X-Ray helps you analyze and debug applications by tracing requests through your systems. It gives you visibility into how your services interact, making it easier to spot bottlenecks or errors in complex distributed architectures.

It fits teams already using AWS who want deep insights without extra cost, thanks to its always-free tier. The trade-off is that it only works within the AWS ecosystem, so it’s useless if you’re running hybrid or multi-cloud setups outside of Amazon’s infrastructure.
